Our country has a long tradition in the production of tomato products, as the first industries date from the second half of 1800, when in the area of Vesuvius, canned "peeled tomatoes" started to be produced, mostly exported to Britain . Later to peeled tomatoes were added other types of tomato products, such as concentrated tomato paste and, only in more recent times, mashed tomato, crushed tomato and tomato sauces. The supremacy of Italy in the production of canned tomato products is due to the initiative of the first entrepreneurs of our food farming industry who were able to export in many areas of the world very good products that keep the flavors of Italian tradition.
Our tomatoes are mainly grown in Apulia. Here they are selected and transported to the factories where they are processed into the various types of products.
